Background & Qualifications

Northstar Industries, LLC is a Massachusetts based company specializing in the premanufacturing of a unique, patent-pending Modular System Design for the petroleum industry. The company was founded to provide guidance and technical expertise for the energy industry due in part to deregulation.

The organization is comprised of senior gas engineers providing services and engineering for gas, LNG, LPG, and industrial clients.

Northstar provides expertise in areas such as metering, regulating, SCADA Systems, Network Analysis, LNG vaporization, LNG siting, gas supply analysis, distribution and transmission engineering, bridge crossings, LPG plants, O&M plans, odorization and training modules for gas and energy companies. The company's strategy is to provide concise preliminary engineering for project definition, detailed engineering construction services, and detailed project data books and training to those involved in the petroleum industry. Clients have included such companies as Spectra Energy, El Paso Energy, PNGTS, PECO Energy, Energy East, Greenville Utilities Commission, Borough of Chambersburg, and City Of Wakefield.

Specifically, Northstar provides professional service and manufacturing capabilities to the following business sectors of the energy industry:

  • Natural Gas (transmission, production, distribution and acquisition)
  • Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)
  • Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
  • Industrial Energy (cogeneration, landfill energy recovery, etc.)
  • Specialty consulting to maximize profits through the organization of unregulated subsidiaries to control costs of pipeline demand charges, peak shaving, and gas supplies.

Northstar employs a unique system to ensure quality engineering and project documentation involving four, simple engineering steps:

  • Perform basic preliminary engineering: to define the project with design criteria for each engineering disciplines. This criteria typically includes hydraulic, civil/structural, electrical, piping, controls, SCADA, permits, costs and schedules, and economic analysis.
  • Complete final design, procurement and receive project approvals: this step includes piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's), engineering calculations, design drawings, data sheets for major equipment, and requisite specifications.
  • Implement, construct and project management: we provide each of these steps as needed to result in a very well orchestrated and code-compliant process.
  • Provide permanent project data documentation and training: this step includes as-built drawings, procedures, test reports, material test reports and operational parameters.
